(Seychelles News Agency) - Seychelles' former president James Mancham met with Azerbaijan's Deputy Foreign Minister Nadir Huseynov on April 29, during a visit to the Caucasian oil-rich nation, according to AzerNews, Azerbaijan's English language newspaper.

"Mancham praised the activities of the Azerbaijani leadership, and also hailed the country`s development, the foreign ministry reported. Noting that he first visited Azerbaijan to observe the presidential election in 2013, Mancham said he later published a special edition of his "Voice of Indian Ocean and Arabian Sea" magazine highlighting Azerbaijan`s successes," said the newspaper.

Mancham spoke about the Seychelles' candidacy for 2017-2018 UN Security Council membership, 'adding if elected, his country will support Azerbaijan`s position," says AzerNews.

He also presented a letter from Seychelles President James Michel to Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry.
