Kempinski The Spa wins best resort spa award for second year in a row

(Seychelles News Agency) - ‘Kempinski The Spa’ has for the second consecutive year been named Seychelles’ Best Resort Spa by the World Spa Awards.

The sister awards to the World Travel Awards, World Spa Awards acknowledges and honours spas that excel in the rapidly evolving spa and wellness industry.

Kempinski The Spa of the Kempinski Seychelles Resort won the title during the third annual ceremony of the award programme that was held on December 10 in Vietnam. In attendance at the gala were hundreds of spa, hospitality and tourism leaders from across the world.

“We feel humbled and honoured to once again have been voted Seychelles’ Best Resort Spa,” said Masami Egami, the general manager of Kempinski Seychelles Resort.

“We were nominated alongside the most esteemed spas in the country and it is a testament to our remarkable spa team that we have won this award two years in a row,” Egami added.

Kempinski The Spa won the title ahead of nine other nominees. This included the spas of Banyan Tree, Hilton Seychelles Labriz Resort, Enchanted Island Resort, Raffles Praslin Seychelles, Six Senses Zil Pasyon, Four Seasons Resort Seychelles, Maia Luxury Resort, North Island Constance Lemuria.

The winning spa is a journey inspired by the European cycle of the seasons offering six treatment rooms, including a couples treatment room. The rooms are located in a traditional bungalow house, from which guests can enjoy the serene view of the lush tropical garden.

The Kempinski Seychelles Resort opened in 2012 and is situated on the famous Baie Lazare in the quieter southwest of Mahe, the main island of Seychelles, an archipelago in the western Indian Ocean. It is a 30-minute transfer by car from the Seychelles' international airport.

World Spa Awards was launched in 2015 and focuses improving the standards within the spa sector by rewarding the organisations that are leaders in the field.

“It has been a pleasure to recognise so many industry leaders and I hope their recognition, both by their peers and members of the public, will inspire them to aim ever higher in the pursuit of excellence,” said the managing director of the World Spa Awards, Rebecca Cohen.

Professionals working within the industry submit their votes via the World Spa Awards website. The awards are presented to the best hotel spa, resort spa, wellness retreat and spa destination on a national level. On a worldwide level, categories include best airline lounge spa, cruise line spa, spa brand, medical spa and desert spa.
