Indian man drowns while snorkeling near Moyenne island in Seychelles

(Seychelles News Agency) - The Seychelles police has reported that an Indian man Abitya Siruguri Jaya Rao has drowned today while snorkeling near Moyenne island.

Moyenne lies some 6 km east of the main Seychelles island of Mahé and is located within the Ste Anne Marine National Park.

“The Seychelles hospital informed the police about the incident at around 1.40pm local time,” reads the police statement issued this afternoon.

The 50 year old Indian man was on holiday in the Indian Ocean archipelago, accompanied by his wife and son and they were staying at the Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay Hotel in the northern part of Mahé.

They arrived in the Seychelles on June 21 and were supposed to leave on June 28.
