(Seychelles News Agency) - Get ready to tune up to a new radio station about to hit Seychelles’ airwaves with a diverse mix of entertainment.

The new radio station, K-Radio, will be launched in Seychelles in August, and a marketing campaign started on Saturday at Freedom Square in the capital Victoria under the theme ‘Birth of the Alphas.”

K-Radio is owned by the Kreol Entertainment, a newly established local entertainment-based company set up in May this year.

Speaking at the ceremony, chief executive Aubrey Philo said that K-Radio is presenting a revolution in radio entertainment in the Seychelles by offering a station that is dynamic and youth driven.

“K-Radio is a gift for the young. We want to be the role model they look up to and can be part of. The station will boast the best talents in the business. It will be the most modern in terms of programming and technology, said Philo.”

He added: “For advertisers, it will be a haven with innovative techniques that will make them stand out from the rest while giving very competitive adverts rate.”

The radio station will operate 24 hours a day. Listeners will be able to get access to a wide range of international and local hits promoting Seychellois culture. During the weekdays, people can tune up to an interactive morning show from 7--10 am with plenty of competitions, live chats, and interviews.  While on the weekends, you stay tuned for a variety of local entertainment.

The deputy chief, Travis Julienne, said the K-Radio team has been working very hard.

“The project is 100 percent Seychellois owned,” said Julienne. “The schedule promises to have something for everyone. We’ve been keeping it under wraps for months, but can’t wait to unleash our diverse mix shows onto the island’s airwaves.”

“With this new venture, we are going to take back control of the entertainment industry in the Indian Ocean,” Julienne added.

The deputy chief said, “Great music will sit right next to community news and local interest stories brought to you by great local presenters who’ll showcase everything the city has to offer. We strongly believe this is the station the people have been anticipating for.”

Seychelles, an archipelago in the western Indian Ocean, has three radio stations: Paradise FM and Radyo Sesel under the Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation, and Pure FM, a privately owned station.

K-Radio also presented the DJs at the ceremony. Aubrey (AAP) and Travis (DMC Taj) will double team to wake you up in the breakfast show, Sylvie will take on the mid-morning session, Alister gets sporty in the afternoon before Ezy D goes full throttle from 4 p.m. Popular artist Cus Mun takes you on a local entertainment journey during the weekend.

An invitee at the event, Danny Esparon, told SNA that launching K-Radio is a great move for the media entertainment in Seychelles.

“The more medium we have is for the better as it gives people the opportunity to choose from one that can keep them entertained or informed,” said Esparon.
