(Seychelles News Agency) - Seychelles President James Michel has strongly condemned the terrorist attack that has killed at least 48 people in Kenya and offered condolences to the Kenyan people in the wake of the tragedy, according to a press statement issued this afternoon by the Seychelles Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“President James Michel offered heartfelt condolences on behalf of Government and People of Seychelles to the family and friends of the victims of the tragedy, in a letter addressed to the President of the Republic of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta,” reads the statement.
The Seychellois head of state has described the attack as atrocious acts against innocent people and has extended the friendship and solidarity of Seychelles during these difficult moments.
Michel has also highlighted the growing concern of both Seychelles and Kenya following the increase in the number of terrorist attacks in the region which he says “poses a threat to the efforts that both countries are deploying to promulgate peace, stability and prosperity.”
“No stone should therefore be left unturned in bringing those responsible for these acts of hatred and revenge to justice. We commend the government of Kenya for all its determination, resilience in the face of adversity and strength of spirit in fighting terrorism and extremism in all its forms” said Michel in the statement.
