(Seychelles News Agency) - Has one of Seychelles' talcum-powdered beaches been the backdrop of your honeymoon photographs? Do you want to relive those special sunsets on the Beau Vallon beach? Are you still impressed when you think of the colorful fish you saw during your last dive?
If the answer is yes to one of the above questions, you have more reasons to head to the World Travel Awards website and vote for Seychelles, an archipelago in the western Indian Ocean.
Seychelles has been nominated in six categories in the Indian Ocean region: Leading Beach Destination, Leading Cruise Destination, Leading Destination, Leading Dive Destination, Leading Honeymoon Destination and Leading Tourist Board.
Voting has started for the 24th annual World Travel Awards, and for those wanting to elevate their preferred Indian Ocean country, airline and tourism establishment have until May 22 to cast their vote.
The chief executive of the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB), Sherin Francis, says that the board is urging everyone to vote for Seychelles online.
“The nominations re-enforce the message that we always pass -- Seychelles is one of the world-leading honeymoon destinations and a place for romance. We are constantly selling Seychelles as one of the world's most beautiful destinations in terms of its beach, sea and sand,” said Francis.

In 2016, for the second consecutive year, STB won the Indian Ocean’s Leading Tourist Board award.
Air Seychelles, the national carrier, took home the Leading Airline, Leading Airline – Business, Leading Airline – Economy and Leading Cabin Crew awards of the Indian Ocean region in 2016.
“For Seychelles to win at the World Travel Awards, speaks volumes -- it is not only massive for us an airline, but also as a country. Our economy is heavily dependent on inbound tourism so the accolade spreads the message about Air Seychelles and Seychelles as a tourist destination. The victory is incredibly valuable,” wrote Roy Kinnear, the chief executive of Air Seychelles, on the World Travel Awards website.
The World Travel Awards winners of the Indian Ocean region will be announced during the Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony 2017 to be held in Sun Aqua Vilu Reef, a five star beach resort in Maldives on July 8.
Vietnam will host the Grand Final Gala Ceremony 2017 on December 10.
