Seychelles Police: Fatal road accidents in mid-2014 surpass previous year’s total

(Seychelles News Agency) - The Seychelles police reports that in mid-2014 there have been 9 fatal road accidents, that surpass the total number of 8 for the whole of last year, according to a press statement this afternoon.

This follows the death of the 9th accident victim, Daniella Balette this morning, at the intensive care unit of the Seychelles Hospital.

Balette was passenger in a car who was involved in an accident at Anse Forban in the south of the main island of Mahe on May 18.

Daniella was 43 years old, from Intendance in the southern most tip of Mahe, and was on her way home at 4.27 in the morning in a car driven by a 28 year old man from Baie Lazare lost control and hit against a tree. 

“The driver walked away from the accident almost unhurt while the deceased suffered severe injuries to the head, waist and the arm ...(.....)...As the Police wraps up its investigation in another tragic case, motorists and other road users are being reminded to be more responsible and more cautious while taking to the road,” reads the police statement.
