Seychelles wins third bronze in Botswana

(Seychelles News Agency) - Seychellois athlete Ned Azemia has qualified for the next World Youth Championship to be held in the United States of America.
Azemia’s qualification followed his good performance in the 400 metre hurdles at the second African youth games, which ends today in Gaborone, Botswana.
The young Seychellois athlete managed a third place finish clocking 53.27 seconds to win the event’s bronze medal.
Mohammed Jlassi from Tunisia and Geoffrey Kipngetich of Kenya grabbed the gold and silver medals respectively.
This is Seychelles’ third bronze medal in Botswana.
The other two bronze were achieved by swimmer Felicity Passon who also managed to get the qualifying time for the Olympic youth games which will take place in Nanjing, China in August this year.
The island nation has also won two gold medals, one in Judo by Natenaina Finesses and another in boxing by Kevin Kilindo.
Seychelles headed to Botswana with 25 athletes participating in 8 of the 21 sports disciplines at the sports gathering.
Some 2500 athletes from 54 countries have been taking part in the second African youth games, since Friday May 23.
