Seychelles condemns 'barbaric' terrorism acts in China
Diplomacy | May 24, 2014, Saturday @ 15:06| 2793 views(Seychelles News Agency) - Xinhua news agency reports that Chinese police have identified five suspects who took part in a terrorist attack on Thursday that killed 39 innocent people and injured another 94, in Urumqi in China.
They are said to have formed a five-member terrorist gang at the end of 2013 which was influenced by Muslim religious extremism on videos and audio material.
Four of the suspects died in the bomb attack and their DNA have been identified, says Xinhua. Another one was caught by police on Thursday night in Bayingolin Mongolia Autonomous Prefecture.
According to a statement today from the Office of the President, Seychelles President James Michel extended condolences to the Chinese government as well as to the families of the victims
"President Michel reiterated that Seychelles condemns these acts of barbarism giving his unwavering support in fighting terrorism in all its form," said the statement.
It is the worst attack in five years in the far western region after riots on July 5, 2009 in the regional capital claimed 197 lives and injured more than 1,700.
