(Seychelles News Agency) - Showing the world the natural Creole beauty of women from Seychelles is what one young Seychellois is aiming for at the ‘Top Model of the World’ competition in Germany.
Mariette Dine -- from the eastern district of Anse Aux Pins on Mahe, Seychelles’ main island -- is participating in the 23rd edition of the event from August 18-26 in Bremen, Germany.
Dine says, “I have vouched to remain natural all my life through my lifestyle to my hair, and so I hope I will be a reflection of Creole beauty and the Seychelles women in this international arena.”
A representative of the international event, Joelle Fabre, director of the Coral Models Seychelles agency, told SNA that Dine was chosen by a selection committee made up of specialists in the field.
Fabre said this was done due to the absence of a Seychelles Top Model competition. Such a competition will be organised next year for the island nation’s representative in the 2017 edition.

Fabre says that with her natural beauty Dine is the perfect candidate to represent the Seychelles, a group of 115 islands in the western Indian Ocean.
“She is easily noticed amongst a crowd for her natural beauty, and she has a beautiful personality and enough experience to turn a few heads at the event,” says Fabre.
The ‘Top Model of the World’, a competition searching for the ultimate model, started in the U.S. city of Miami and is organised by the World Beauty Organisation every year.
“It is a very interesting event as they (models) get to learn everything about modelling from exercise routines to nutrition which will help them if they do ever go as far as to make a career in this,” says Fabre.
The pageant attracts many international models seeking to be recruited for photo shooting, movies and modelling contracts and include an interviewing session, a swim wear parade as well as evening gown competition, added Fabre.

With almost three years of modelling experience under her belt, 24-year old Dine is looking forward to meeting her international counterparts.
The former employee of the Seychelles Island Foundation has worked in conservation for many years and will soon begin her degree in Environmental Science at the Seychelles University.
Dine says her studies will not affect her modelling aspirations from which she has visited other countries such as Sri Lanka and work with several local and international photographers.
Seychelles is participating in the Top Model of the World competition for the second time.
In 2009, the island nation was represented by Nathalie Domingue, who won the best catwalk award.
