Get out your camera: 8 breathtaking views in Seychelles

(Seychelles News Agency) - Any good visit to the Seychelles includes not only fun in the sun on our beautiful beaches, but some (slightly sweaty) walks up our mountains and across our nature trails to enjoy magnificent views from an island nation's best selfie spots. This week SNA offers you some must-visit viewpoints found on some islands of the Seychelles.

1.     Sans Soucis- Mission Lodge (Mahe island)

After mounting the Sans Soucis road, which is surrounded by abundant green forest, and stopping at the mission lodge site, one will come across the remnants of Venn's town (former school for liberated slaves) and at the summit is a kiosk offering a splendid view. The Sans Soucis view point offers a panoramic view of Grand Anse Mahé bay, small islands such as Ile Therese, Ile au Vache and all the way to the Baie Lazare bay.

2.     La Louise (Mahe)

This is one of the most popular viewpoints on Mahé. A few minutes’ drive up the La Louise road, it is not difficult to recognize the wooden balcony that singles out the viewpoint.

It offers an impressive view of Victoria on the left, Eden Island, St. Anne Island Marine Park and some other inner islands with the eastern district of Pointe Larue on the far right.

3.     Belle Vue (La Digue)

From 300m high, this view point is situated on the island of La Digue, the third-most populated island of Seychelles. As the name suggest it’s a beautiful view of some of islands close by including Ile Coco, Felicite, Marianne, l’Ilot Ave Maria and the island of Mahe and Praslin in the distance.

4.    Nid D’Aigle (La Digue)

Climbing up the mountain of Belle Vue, the views get more spectacular at Nid d’Aigle on La Digue as it offers an almost-perfect 360 degree view of the third-most populated island of Seychelles and its neighbouring islands.

5.     Anse Major (Mahe)

This is located in the northwestern part of Mahe with a popular nature trail.  Anse Major is an area of Steep Mountain, full of greeneries and cliffs. At the summit is a bird’s-eye view of the horizon, the deep blue sea, the island of Silhouette and the coast of Bel Ombre and Beau vallon.

6.     Mont Pot-a-Eau (Silhouette)

The 621m peak of Silhouette island gives a nice view of the islands jetty, La Passe and a clear view of Mahé when the weather is fine.

7. Grand Fond, aka Zimbabwe (Praslin)

The highest point on Praslin, the second-most populated island of Seychelles, Grand Fond, better known to the locals as Zimbabwe, allows a view of several islands including Curieuse. It is also the perfect place to catch a good sunset at an altitude of more than 300 metres.

8. Copolia (Mahe)

A moderate climb of about an hour leads to the summit. For nature lovers the trail is the perfect place to observe native plants and animal species including the insect-trapping pitcher plant. After the climb, the reward is a scenic view of the capital, Victoria, and other coastal areas of central districts up to the International airport in the east of the main island, Mahé, with Morne Seychellois in the background.
