(Seychelles News Agency) - The Afro-Asian expo is a chance to understand the Seychellois market, says a Mauritian businessman who is taking part in the second edition of the expo.

Jean Nool Li, owner of the Happy Wood company, says, “The expo allows me to understand what Seychellois want, the trends and new products to introduce.”

Happy Wood is a Mauritian company specialising in furniture, home décor and other home materials from teak wood. In this year’s expo, Happy Wood has introduced some Buddha decor, something that is fairly new to the Seychellois public.

Mostly Asian countries are participating in the Seychelles Afro-Asia expo organized by the Seychelles Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) in partnership with Rajasthan, a Mauritian company. It is taking place at Roche Caiman on the eastern coast of the main island Mahe and closes on Wednesday.

The expo, which includes the participation of Mauritius, Singapore, Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Iran, and France, is an opportunity for businesses from those countries to meet the Seychellois public and local entrepreneurs for sales and future collaborations.

This is the third time that Happy Wood has participated in an exposition in Seychelles. Last year, Nool Li took part in the Fetafrik, the house garden and hospitality exhibition.

“It (the expo) will allow me to grow my business and be able to have a partnership with a local shop or business that is related to construction,” Nool Li explains.

Nool Li told SNA that most of his visitors came during the weekend, and they are mostly individuals who want something a bit original and out of the ordinary.

The Mauritian businessman explained that to open a shop in the Seychelles he needs a serious partner and through the expos he can bring his products for his Seychellois clientele without them going through the logistical hassles.
