(Seychelles News Agency) - Seychelles President James Michel has reaffirmed the Indian Ocean island nation’s commitment to keep on calling for international efforts to fight terrorism in the hope of building a secure and prosperous Africa, according to a press statement issued by the Seychelles Ministry of Foreign Affairs this afternoon.

Michel made the commitment in a message addressed to Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta in which he has expressed support to the Kenyan people following a string of deadly bomb blasts in Kenya.

Four people were killed in the coastal city of Mombasa Saturday May 03 after a grenade was thrown on a bus followed by the killing on Sunday May 04 of at least three people following bomb explosions on two buses in the Kenyan Capital of Nairobi.

The Seychellois head of state has qualified as unacceptable the targeting of innocent civilians as a line of attack for a cause.

“The Government of Seychelles condemns in the strongest terms these atrocious attacks of violence,” said Michel in the statement.

Meanwhile the Chinese News Agency, Xinhua, has reported that Kenyan police managed to prevent another terror attack yesterday in the border town of Garissa after it was able to detect an Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) in a primary school where children were playing.

“The IED, which was planted at the school's play ground and neatly wrapped in a 20 litre jerrican, was obviously targeting school children playing in the field,” said Kenyan Police according to the Xinhua report.

The explosive devices discovered were detonated by bomb experts of the Kenya Defense Forces.
