Chinese man dies while swimming near Silhouette Island, says Seychelles police

(Seychelles News Agency) - The Seychelles police have reported the death of a 48-year-old Chinese national, Huang Xinggo, who ran into difficulties while swimming with his family on Silhouette, the third largest island in the Seychelles archipelago.

According to a statement issued this afternoon, the incident occurred at around 4:15 pm local time on Tuesday.

“Assisted by the lifeguards working on the beach, the man was removed from the sea and transported to the Seychelles Hospital [on Mahe, the main Seychelles island] where he was certified dead,” reads the statement.

An autopsy will be carried out to confirm the man's exact cause of death.

Huang Xinggo was holidaying in Seychelles together with his wife and two children.

They arrived in the country on February 21 and were scheduled to leave this Thursday.
