Seychelles police locate missing Indian man on Astove island

(Seychelles News Agency) - The Seychelles police has confirmed that the man of Indian origin who was reported missing on Astove island on Wednesday has been found following a search operation on the island.

It was yesterday that a search party led by the police together with employees of the Island Development Company (IDC) went to the island after being informed of the man’s disappearance.

"The Indian national, a construction worker on the island got lost while he had gone for a walk,” Assistant Superintendent Jeffrey Jean-Baptiste told SNA this morning.

"He could not find his way back," he said.

Jean-Baptiste said the man was unharmed but had was taken to the main island Mahé for medical examinations.

Astove is part of the Aldabra group of islands some 1,045km southwest of Mahé.
