Seychelles President travels to Abu Dhabi

President James Michel has lobbied the international community on the blue economy concept since January 2013 (Office of the President, Seychelles)

(Seychelles News Agency) - Seychelles President James Michel travels to Abu Dhabi Monday to address the Blue Economy Summit, according to a statement late Sunday from the State House.

Seychelles is co-hosting the event with the United Arab Emirates , where speakers include President of the 69th Session on the U.N. General Assembly John Ashe, Prime Minister of Tonga Lord Tu‘ivakanō, CEO of the Global Environment Facility, Naoko Ishii Ph.D., Director General of the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organisation José Graziano da Silva, as well government ministers, experts and high-level representatives from around the world

Seychelles Foreign Minister Jean-Paul Adam and Environment and Energy Minister Rolph Payet Ph.D will chair the summit discussions, with the participation of UAE Minister of State and CEO of Masdar, Dr. Sultan Al Jaber.

The high level meetings is part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, one of the largest international gatherings on sustainability, where more than 30,000 participants discuss environmental and development concerns and solutions.
